Day of Reflection on the Book of Ruth April 19, 2008

Our lives need a rhythm of work and prayer, effort and rest, striving and Sabbath.  We all need to find time to be still with the One whom we serve. Seekers and St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Lewes invites you to a Day of Quiet Reflection on Saturday, April 19, 2008 from 9:30 - 3:00 pm .

The Book of Ruth gives a strong message about trusting God, even in the hard times.  This story provides a rich source of insights into healthy interpersonal relationships.  It gives us characters who experience grief and sorrow, who treat each other with loving kindness and who were aware and noticed God’s activity and invitations in their daily lives.  This story of God’s grace can help us to glimpse God’s grace in our own lives.

The day will be led by Barbara Tucker, an experienced spiritual director, who has completed the Shalem Institute program in Washington , D.C. for individual spiritual guidance.  She is active with the Episcopal Diocesan ministry of Christian Spirituality, Spiritual Companions, and serves as a spiritual retreat leader.

Throughout the day there will be three brief reflections on the Book of Ruth, as well as an opportunity for individual prayer and reflection.  The day will conclude with worship and Eucharist.

Barbara also suggests participants bring a journal for personal use during the day.
